$5,000 Reward Offered for Information
ELKHART, Ind., July 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons(s) responsible for the theft of a Colt, Model M-16, .223 caliber rifle and four loaded magazines (commonly referred to as clips) from an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle was broken into between the late evening hours of Friday, June 20, 2008, and the early morning hours of Saturday, June 21, 2008.
ATF and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the theft of the rifle. Investigators have developed information regarding this theft; however, they need additional information from the public that may assist them in solving the case.
Firearms pose inherent dangers. Investigators are seeking information aiding in the expeditious recovery of this particular rifle.
